- A quote is the installer’s final offer: a fixed amount for a specific product, which the consumer signs. A financing application can only complete on the basis of a quote.
- An indicative quote is an estimate: an amount and a product, sent before a final quote exists. It gives the consumer an idea of what financing costs while they are still orienting.
When to use it
Only send an indicative quote when you don’t have a final quote yet. Existing integrations that send quotes keep working unchanged. An indicative quote is not the same as a cost preview (POST /v1/quotes/cost/preview). A cost preview calculates financing costs without storing anything; an indicative quote is stored in Prets and linked to the consumer.
API
UsePOST /v1/quotes with "terms": ["indicative"]. The response has financing.status set to orientation. The full comparison with a quote is on that reference page.
